Having been brought up in a household where the four "s's" were the norm (shouting, swearing, screaming and smacking), this book was a revelation (and a saviour) for me. It is so insightful about how we as humans need to react with each other. This book has helped me through many tricky situations, not just with my children, but with other adults too, when you're not quite sure of the right thing to say, phrases from HTTSKWL pop out and help things along!

I recommend this book so often, people must think I'm on commision! It is simply the best book I've found that manages to covey a message about working with your children, together, to find solutions, without being overly prescriptive. Husband loved the cartoons (well he didn't have much choice, I photocopied the best ones and put one up per week on our bathroom window!)
