A Sudden End to Breastfeeding
Very rarely a mother may find herself in a situation where she needs to stop breastfeeding straight away, for example to start treatment for a serious medical condition such as cancer, or if her baby has died. In most other situations it's possible either to end breastfeeding gradually or to continue, but with adjustments.
This information sheet will help you decide whether weaning really is necessary and if so, give you strategies for reducing your milk production comfortably and helping your child adjust to life without breastfeeding.
